Information Technology
Whatever their sector, most businesses now use Information Technology (I.T.) for most of their day-to-day operations. These include keeping track of finances, managing customer relationships, supporting the processing of orders, controlling stock, internal communications and so on.
In today’s increasingly competitive, dynamic world, businesses that want to get ahead today to stay ahead tomorrow invest heavily in I.T. As a result they require people with good computing skills who are able to use a range of standard, and more complex, software applications, as a means of ensuring such investment is maximised.
So whether you are an employer with staff who use computers or an individual working on computers for a company, an I.T. Apprenticeship is certainly worth looking at. It enables people to gain a comprehensive and relevant knowledge of computer applications and how they work within the business environment. Aspects that might be included as part of the qualification are:-
- Using different I.T. based applications to undertake responsibilities
- Making the best use of email, the internet and intranets
- Interpreting figures and diagrams using I.T. programmes
- Producing reports
- Compiling databases and putting together presentations
The actual specifics of an I.T. Apprenticeship will depend on the sector itself being worked in, but one thing’s for sure – the skills acquired as a result of the programme will include greater productivity, effectiveness and motivation
